Week1 Class Journal
What I did in my class ? |
Thank you for following my blog. To day I gonna tell you what I 've done in my class and during the week. In classroom, my teacher, Dr. Nopphawan taught us 3 main things : KU web mail, BLOG making and KU M@X learn.
First, learning to use KU WEB MAIL
As Hotmail, Gmail, and other web mails, KU web mail provides us enough options for send and receiving mails or data. The storage for each student is 4 Gb. It's ok good. I don't need to keep any movie.. In the class, we've tried to send one photo to teacher, I chose photo of FERN, the plant I like the most. After we learn the important options in KU web mail, I found that the more I study here, the more effective is my NONTRI account because without is account, we can't do any thing. Also we looked a bit the PIRUN sever which was under-construction.
Second, creating a new BLOG with "www.blogger.com"
"BLOG", this word maybe quite familiar for new-gen people but for me, it's some thing that's very new. I thing it's like facebook, social network application that I check very 5 minutes but IT's quite different!! To create the blog, it's better to sign up new account of "gmail", so I did the registration a gmail account. It's just easy. Firstly, I would like to tell you that it's not easy for me to do the beautiful and creative blog because I don't have knowledge about Visual literacy..
(I tell you one secret, when I was Teacher student I had to learn "Instructional media" 3 times to pass so..I LOVE..... this subject so MUCH) but just a while after work with "Blogger.com" I couldn't stop working... it's so fun. There are many many and many beautiful templates to choose. Finally, I chose the wood texture one. I thought it fits me the most I'm the nature lover. For the illustrations, I used "photoscape" photo edition program to edit my AMATURE photos... I hope I could develop my IT skills more through this blog.
For conclusion, I've opened my view about teaching technology in 21th century that goes beyond boundaries without and overcome difficult condition of learners. It's truely the new dimension of curriculum design and development.

Third, working with M@X learn.
Before leaving a class, our beloved teacher, Dr. Nopphawan assigned us to study about WBI/WBL, CAI/CAL, E-learning, M-learning and the new blended learning through M@X learn. What ????? what is M@X learn.. M@X learn is Kasetsart University's E-learning system. To access this system, surely you have to be KU student first and you use again "NONTRI" account to access. After accessing inside the system, there will be many courses to choose. I chose the course 01162531 IT for curriculum and Instruction section 6, instructor : Dr. Nopphawan..... If we registered to the course, we couldn't start working with E-learning; there had to be accepted by instructor... The important condition of acceptance is we have to edit or complete our profile first and the name of requested students will be shown to instructor.
Example of resource website from M@X learn
After I was accepted to enrolled this course, first task in Group Work discussion, through this assignment, we had to discuss the given topics about WBI/WBL, CAI/CAL, E-learning, M-learning and the new blended learning. We 've discussed firstly in "Pro-chat" channel but it's difficult to intructor to check the frequency of access because Pro-chat did show the user names, only shown Student ID. So we move to use the "GROUP 2" channel to discuss our homework. Last Saturday, we met every group members, we gathered all discussed information in one page and send our group homework. For conclusion, I've opened my view about teaching technology in 21th century that goes beyond boundaries without and overcome difficult condition of learners. It's truely the new dimension of curriculum design and development.

Week 2 Class Journal
Hello Every
one,
I’m so excited to shared you what we have learnt in IT in curriculum and instruction class. According to Loy Krathong festival, this week we learnt totally online. Our beloved teacher, Dr. Nopphawan assigned us to work on the booming topic (in Innovative Educational Technology) “WEBQUEST”.
My first idea about “WEBQUEST”
Firstly in my opinion, when I heard the word “webquest”, I thought of combination between “WEB” and “Quest”. Web is website. Quest, often heard when I was young in PC games, is something that we to pass to get the items, some mission that we have to pass to get level up. My guessing meaning is “the mission that learner has to achieve through website”. OK I just tried to guess the meaning.
Group Working on “WEBQUEST”
After studying the assignment and homework, our teacher asked us to find out the details as in followings:
1. The meaning of webquest
2. The components
3. Design steps and Process
4. Supplementary media
5. Examples of webquest
We started by giving and possessing the sub-topics showing HOMEWORK. I got example but anyway, I study all of them. The problem for me is I’m not the good reader.
Then I launched my special learning strategy: Watching Videos about “WEBQUEST” from www.youtube.com; my friend, my consulter, my teacher and my library.

After watching “webquest” vedios, I got
the broadly concept. So I opened the links given in KU M@X learn and started
reading and studying unceasingly.
I found that “WEBQUEST” is the website that teacher asked students to learn some lesson through it. In the webquest, teacher will show about 6 main pages that are:

Introduction showing
acknowledgement and interesting and attractive information of the
lesson.
Task indicating the assignments and works that students have to complete; sometimes if handout documents are available, they will be shown in this part.
Process showing step-by-step learnings to complete the given task mentioned above. In this page, there are many hyperlinks to other website or content pages (maybe or almost are Games or stories).
Evaluation showing the rubrics or assessment criteria for this lesson. They are related to learning standards.
Credit showing the short (or long) biography of WEBQuest developer.
Conclusion summarizes skills, knowledge that students gained from this WEBQUEST.

Among examples, I like EFL for Beginner the most.
I had studied about 5 – 6 examples. The one I like the most is WEBQUEST for EFL students, Ph.D thesis project of KU student, under supervisory of Dr. Nopphawan and Dr. Maturos. I reason why I like this WEBQUEST because :
1. All the contents are shown in www.blogspot.com. It fits my gained knowledge. I knew now how to work with this site; although my work didn’t appear perfect but I think that if I learn more a bit I could develop WEBQUEST.
2. This WEBQUEST is about ELF which shows contents in different 4 subjects: English, Sciences, Health and Occupation&Technolgy. It is quite close to my current career, IEP teacher.
3. Each
webquest provides the Study plan (Lesson
plan, I don’t know what it’s called formally) in form of “pdf.” file linking to
“Pirun.ku.ac.th” sever. This lesson plan
shows topic, aim, task, standards, analysis of activities, suggestion and
additional resources and the hyperlink texts that can link to another sites by
clicking.
Could I
leave some comment a bit ?
While working with week2 lesson, I troubled
with annoying problem about M@X learn.
When I typed a page of answer,
went teaching my students and back again to click “send ”. I always
show “Session expired” click hereà to login again. When I logged in again the page of answer I
typed GONE. This is the big lesson in
my life for working with KU M@X learns.
The easy solution is I typed “Ctrl+A” and “Ctrl+C” every time I finish typing.

Finally, I hope you enjoy reading what I have learn in week2, how we work on
“WEBQUEST”, Which webquest I like the most, and especially what makes me get
nervous while working with KU M@X learn.
Thank you for your kind and patient reading (because it’s quite long55) I hope you ‘ll read my journey along with this course.

Week 3 Class journal
In the third week of ICT for Education and Instruction, we have discussed and learned new things to prepare ourselves to be more effective 21th century teacher, which e-learning is now shaking the world of education.
In this journal, I'll talk altogether 4 things happening in the class and during all the week;
1. Discussing about the week 1 and week 2 homeworks which are about online learning and webquest.
2. Prezi, slide presentation, which is born to kill Power point.
3. WIX, another free blog website with HTML5.
4. Individual Project and Group work set 3
First, starting with discussing our homework. Dr. Nopphawan let us retell our works to check our understanding. She taught us how to extract the implicit content from the given academic papers. In this case, I have learnt that if we found the text although the text didn't show the answer that we want to know directly.
The steps to extract the needed answers from the text are
1. Overview all the text, what is this paper talking about?
2. Analyze each part of the paper; What each paragraph is talking about?
How do they concern to my question ? Are they answer my question ?
3. Synthesize the extracted information by using our own words, which are similar to the content and easy to
understand. At least if you read your answer, you will understand hahaha.
Another suggestion about doing homework we have to make sure that we understand :
What does question require us to answer ?
How many parts of answer are asking us to do in question?
For example:
For WBI-WBL, What are their meanings? How are they different from CAI-CAL ?
==> I missed the point I just find out the meanings but actually the question ask me to find out also the differences between WBI-WBL. So, by this case, I have to pay attention more on reading and understanding the question so that I could answer the questions more accurately.
Second, Dr. Nopphawan showed us the online presentation program called "Prezi", it's beautiful in design and have thousand of instant templates to apply. The strength of Prezi, not only its beautiful tenplates but also the connentivity. This is another strength that Prezi can beat Power point. I have finish one "Prezi" about Foreign Language learning area based on Thailand Basic Educational Curriculum. This Prezi slide doesn't struck only in my laptop but it can display in my I-Phone as the apps called "Prezi Viewer". Moreover, if you're amazed in silde -by-slide presentation in powerpoint, you will be amazed more in Prezi presentation because it can show all the slides appearing as conceptual map. If you click on the map, it also will lead you to the clicked area content. Reading this explanation may seem tiring, my suggestion for you is just TRY IT !!
Next, the third thing I have do in the class is WIX, the free HTML5 webblog. Like Blogger.com, WIX provide the templates (Attention!! some are free and some are PAID) The template in WIX is more colorful, more profession, more authentic and more attractive people to visit your site. I just tried one WIX , it's about school; it's quite close my working career. The fantastic point of WIX that I like is we just double the part of showing webpage to edit, not like the other webBlog, there are 2 parts to work with webpage to view and Design page; we can't see the change after edit immediately. I dare to say that WIX, you're CHIC and COOL.
At the end of the class, teacher assigned us to start our individual project about Webquest. The working steps are analyzing of Foreign language learning areas, Pick one standard, Choose the content fitting with the picked standard and Find the additional resources. For me, I'm IEP teacher, surely I've picked Strand 3 "Language and other field sujects"
